About Our Douglas County Driving School
Our Purpose and Mission
Our mission is two-fold. First, we strive to train and equip teens with the skills to be the safest, lowest-risk, independent drivers possible. Second, we aim to partner with you — the parent — to provide consistency and continuity of safe driving habits. If you’d like more information about Freedom Drivers Ed in Englewood, contact us today!
We have carefully designed each course with the purpose of successfully equipping your teen with defensive driving habits. Our driving school’s curriculum is progressive, compounding, and comprehensive. It’s important to us that your son or daughter be trained in the basics from how to change a tire and other simple car maintenance, to more complex, challenging tasks like crash avoidance and navigating different driving environments like large cities and mountain roads.
The decision to purchase drivers education is as important as any other decision you make concerning your family’s safety and security. When your teen grips the steering wheel of your family car, they hold in their hands every occupant’s dreams, aspirations, and goals — everything they are and will be. The ability of your teen to make quick, good decisions is imperative to everyone’s safety.
According to NHTSA data — collected from all 50 states and the District of Columbia — 37,461 lives were lost on U.S. roads in 2016, an increase of 5.6 percent from the calendar year 2015. This is approximately 102 lives lost every day of the year. Our mission is to train new drivers so well that we help lower this statistic. We would love to have the privilege of properly training your son or daughter so that their lives, your family’s lives and the lives of everyone else on the road is less at risk. Our founder is a veteran law enforcement officer and law enforcement driving instructor who has spent years investigating automobile crashes — some of which had life-changing results for the drivers, family, and friends. In short, we know what the major causes of crashes are. And we also know what driving behaviors need to be made a habit to avoid these accidents.
As a student at Englewood-based Freedom Drivers Ed, your teen will not only learn everything they need to be an effective driver but she or he will also be trained in driving behaviors and skills that will prepare them to be the safest on the road.
What Our Courses Include
We are proud to offer comprehensive drivers education. Our curriculum is based on the philosophy “Hear It – See It – Do It.” Each of our classes incorporate different learning styles, including visual, auditory, and kinesthetic.
Our drivers education class is comprised of 30 hours of stimulating and engaging classroom instruction that prepares students to confidently pass their drivers permit test. More importantly, though, our drivers ed course sets the foundation that students will build upon during their behind-the-wheel (BTW) training. The course gives students the strong decision-making skills that are necessary to be the most low risk and safe driver possible. Learn more about our drivers ed curriculum here. And if you’d like to take the 30-hour course online, you can also register for online drivers ed through Freedom Drivers Ed.
After completing the coursework, students will participate in six hours of behind-the-wheel training, as well as driving with their parents to log their 50 hours of drive time required before taking their drivers license test. Our driving school offers free pickup and drop-off at home, school, and work in most of Douglas County and parts of Arapaho County for all six hours of personal driving lessons. Our professional instructors use newer-model IIHS Top Safety vehicles installed with a passenger break. We also offer additional driving lessons, like our popular city and mountain driving courses.
When students are ready to take their drivers license test, you can register and take the test with Freedom Drivers Ed. If you’d like more information about the driver’s test process, visit out driver’s license test page.
